A wonderful samaj can be built; Bhavsar Samaj can be one among the India’s first five developed samaj in the next twenty years, if we work hard and have a proper vision of tomorrow. The goal, we assert, isn’t an unrealistic one, but the large section of our people are illiterate and poverty stricken and in term of development indices, it is among the most backward compared to other samaj. Because of illiteracy, the lack of progress on many fronts is a major cause for concern, and we have begun to lose our confidence. Since last 8 years, I am closely associated with A.B.B.K.Mahasabha, observed our people closely and examined our strength and weaknesses to offer a vision of how Bhavsar can be among the first five developed samaj economically rich samaj in the next twenty years.
After my personality development training programme conducted for our students a young graduate motivated came up to say thanks to me. I asked him “what is your ambition?” He said “I would like to live in a developed samaj, progressed samaj” That aspiration simply expressed has been the hope of thousands of Bahavsars. We can accomplish this goal. It is a mission we can all take up and accomplish.
THE CHANGING WORLD
We are living in a world that is changing at an incredible pace. In the information age words are acquiring new meaning. Communication and information technology is the way we think, act, work, play- triggering massive economic social and cultural changes.
Children will spend more time with computers than conversing with their parents, reading or playing. The internet and web TV will be an integrate part of our daily lives. For a family more than providing separate bedrooms for our children, we will have to provide for separate web TVs so that they can learn, play and entertain. Children will be using CD ROMs to virtually traverse the oceans and continents, explore unknown places, create movies, simulate earthquakes, pilot planes, command spacecrafts and take moonwalks. The expanse of a child mind will be limitless. Undoubtedly the world will have more self confident, self absorbed and well informed children.
Once an individual has acquired basic literacy education will be a lifelong activity. Training and retraining will be the essence of skill creation. Those who ignore this will be relapse in to functional illiteracy. We have to bring this awareness amongst our children and our people.
The effect of globalisation will be greater flows of investment to less developed countries like India, lightening speed of technological transmission, European and American jobs will lose to emerging economies. Several new technologies will place unprecedented power and opportunities in the hands of our children. I believe this all embracing technological revolution has opened up for India. Bhavsars can take advantage of this opportunity. After a long time we Bhavsars have a chance to free our people from poverty, illiteracy. By next twenty years we can make Bhavsars one of the India’s five developed samaj. This is my dream. I wish to share it with you, Not only the dream but also the strategy that can make it a reality. I know this is not an easy task. How can fifty per cent of Bhavsar living on less than Rupees fifty per day. Entertain this ambition? How can our people half of whom are illiterate aspire to become a rich economically powerful? The impressive edifice of this vision rests on solid foundations
THE FOUNDATION OF GROWTH
Firstly I hope you agree with me that the future of the samaj is carved by young people. Our first step is to bring awareness amongst our samaj people that there is no future without education. If you want to progress develop then educate your children. Mahasabha has to find the means and ways to motivate our people to educate their children by arranging workshops, seminars, and training programmes. We must have our own Technology and M.B.A. colleges. Once our youth start going to schools and colleges they are ready to adapt to new technologies ready to take on the new challenges of world. Give inspiring motivation they will leave no stone unturned to develop an economically sound family. Because of tolerance, intelligence and hospitality are essential properties of our Bhavsar culture. We enjoy a competitive advantage in dealing with the demands of the information age. Our family system will be a source of great strength. Our tradition values, respect for elders, supporting the aged, concern for our underprivileged, sharing of joy and sorrow and above all a feeling of togetherness will stand us in a good stead. Our family system will act as powerful shield against economic stress in the new information age. Knowledge and information can now be accessible across all physical and geographical boundaries. We have to seize this opportunity. Either we perform or perish. Information technology is capable of generating maximum wealth with modest investments.
HOW DO WE SEIZE THIS OPPORTUNITY?
The answer is by harnessing technology. Mahasabha direction to our youth is to grab this opportunity. Inform samaj people to take advantage of this opportunity. The benefit of harnessing technology is every year thousands of young Bhavsars are joining the skilled workforce. They are conversant with working in English language. The demand for such skill is tremendous world over. More and more Bhavsars can be trained to service this demand.
In my view changes are required. Firstly changing the mind set must be the starting point. Hard work. Pursuit of excellence at individual level is desirable. We must learn the art of team work. High quality of leadership is must in all walks of life. Mahasabha can make an invaluable contribution by identifying leaders with courage and ambition, intellectual leaders with creativity and vision. Arrange HRD training programmes from these leaders to our youngsters. Information revolution will totally transform the work environment for women. Women will be equal partners with men; we should motivate Bhavsar Mahila to enrich themselves with new work styles and leadership in various areas.
I hope this vision for our samaj will stimulate your thinking. I do not have answers to all our problems. I may be looking at the sky, but my feet are firmly on the ground.
I invite all of you to join in the great march towards progress of Bhavsar, a wealthy Bhavsar, one amongst the India’s first five developed samaj in next twenty years. Several individuals in our times have achieved miracles in a twenty years span. Time has come for us to think adventurously and act decisively. We have to summon the determination and make the effort. Today it may appear to be an impossible dream but it will become a reality tomorrow. Let us take Bhavsar samaj forward and achieve the impossible. Let me challenge each one of you today to think and contribute to our tomorrow’s vision so that our children can be proud of.
JAI HINGALAJ MATA!
