NAGANATH MAHINDRAKAR
Dr. Naganath
Mahindrakar has distinguished himself as
a great serviceman to our Samaj by his
humongous contributions. It is
interesting to note that migration
almost always leads to evolution and
thus prosperity. It is very true of
Naganath Mahindrakar, who after his
degree in medicine in 1956 from Bombay
migrated to England. There he
established himself as an ENT surgeon
after successfully completing his FRCS.
He practiced ENT until his retirement in
1997 in Bolton. His relentless charity
work went along his profession, which
included:
Chairman and Trustee of the Charitable Bolton Society for 30 years
- Chairman and Trustee of the Charitable Bolton Society for 30 years.
- 2000 - established a
Charitable Blood Bank in Dharwad,
Karnataka by raising Rs. 24 lakhs from
England and United States. The Blood
bank is now serving the needs of the
population of Dharwad and surrounding
villages.
- 1997 - President of the Rotary Club.
- 1994 - Established
H.A. Mahindrakar Education Trust to help
economically backward bhavsar boys and
girls attain higher education. An amount
of Rs.10 lakhs was raised. The interest
on the capital is now being distributed
to deserving candidates every year.
Ongoing Project:
He is actively involved in establishing
medical care for children whose parents
cannot afford the cost of
treatment. Presently he visits Dharwad, India
every year in the month of November. He
continues to do charity work along with
distribution of toys and clothes to the
poorer section of the community. He also
donates medical equipment to hospitals.
Currently he lives in Bolton, England with
his wife Teresa, who is a retired teacher
and very active member of local and
international charities. He has two sons.
Peter is an Architect and Arwin a Computer
Hardware Engineer.
